WEDDING FAQ

Wedding arrangements FAQ

What is your wedding party booking status?

We recommend booking your wedding venue as early as possible, as our venues are popular and summer weddings in particular (May to September) are booked up to 2–3 years in advance. You’re more likely to find an opening at a shorter notice at other times of the year. We are currently selling the 2026 summer season at a fast pace. There is still plenty of available slots for the 2025 summer season in Ometta. Villa Vellamo and Isohaapa are fully booked for the 2024 and 2025 summer seasons.

Is it possible to visit the venue in advance?

Absolutely! Please agree on the date of your visit with our wedding coordinator. The visit and meeting with the Lehmonkärki staff is free of charge.

When can we start decorating the venue?

A separate agreement on the time you can come to the venue must be made with the Lehmonkärki staff. The time you can start decorating depends on the date and the venue.

What should we take into account when decorating?

When decorating, please note that you must not attach anything to the venue’s structures with staples, nails, screws or glue. Everything must be fixed with fishing lines, wires or other fastening devices that will not leave any traces. Duct tape is not allowed.

When decorating, please also note that neither glitter nor confetti may be used due to the mess they cause.

For more information about decoration, please see our comprehensive wedding info package, available from the Lehmonkärki wedding coordinator.

Can our guests stay at Lehmonkärki?

Yes, we offer wedding guests the possibility to stay in our comfortable villas (130 beds in total). Please note that the villas are available for weekly rental every summer on weeks 25–31. During this period, shorter-term accommodation is available on a limited basis. At other times, shorter rental periods for larger groups are also possible.

Where can the newlyweds spend the night?

There are several unforgettable places where you can spend your wedding night at Lehmonkärki. Built over Lake Päijänne, the Haasi Mirror Houses offer a unique opportunity to spend your wedding night.

Can we bring our own alcoholic beverages to the venue?

Villa Vellamo and its yard area are licensed premises, and bringing your own alcoholic beverages there is not allowed. Serving of alcoholic beverages will end at 1:30 am and you must vacate the premises by 2 am. You are allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages to Isohaapa and Ometta.

What kind of a sound system do you have at your venues?

Villa Vellamo and Isohaapa have conference-level sound systems that can be used for background music during the wedding dinner. Villa Vellamo also has a wireless microphone for speeches. You can rent a JBL speaker for a separate fee from us (e.g. for Spotify).

How will the sound be handled during the ceremony?

There is no sound system for the wedding platform in Villa Vellamo, so you will need to arrange for one if necessary (electricity is available).

At which time do we have to stop playing music?

We request that the sound level of music coming from inside the venue would not exceed 45 decibels after 10 pm. You can still play music indoors after that, as long as the 45 dB limit is respected. The same decibel limits apply to our villas.

Will the venue be cleaned before the wedding?

The staff will always clean the venue on Saturday morning before a wedding.

Who will handle cleaning after the wedding?

Your own decorations must be removed from the venue (including the yard area) the day after the wedding. The venue must be cleaned and ready to hand over by a specific time on Sunday (the time depends on the venue).  In addition, any cans etc. should be collected from the area around the villas the day after the wedding. For more information about cleaning at the villas, please refer to the accommodation rules and the villas’ booking and cancellation terms. If the venue has not been cleaned by the end of the booking period, Lehmonkärki has the right to charge an hourly cleaning fee.

Can we use an external catering service at the venue?

Lehmonkärki’s own catering handles events at Villa Vellamo. For weddings at Isohaapa, catering services can also be provided by another service provider, and catering for Ometta must always be arranged through another service provider. Due to the Finnish own-check regulations, wedding guests are not allowed to use the main kitchen or prepare food themselves. For more information about catering, see our comprehensive wedding info package.

What is included in the wedding buffet?

We design a new wedding menu with topical ingredients every year. You can choose seven starters, a main course with various side dishes, and a selection of bread and butter. Unless otherwise agreed, the food will be served buffet-style. For more information, please contact our sales department at lehmonkarki@lehmonkarki.fi.

Can we take leftovers from the buffet home with us?

Due to the own-check regulations, leftover food cannot be stored, nor can you take it home with you.

Can we bring our own cakes or pastries to the wedding?

You can purchase the wedding cake from an outside bakery.  Due to Finnish legislation on food hygiene, the cake must be ordered from a bakery. We cannot serve cakes made by private persons. The cake must be delivered to the kitchen of the venue at least a couple of hours before it is to be served. You can also deliver the wedding cake the day before (Friday) to the cold storage room in the kitchen. Please note that the cake must be fully decorated upon delivery; Lehmonkärki is not responsible for decorating a cake made by another service provider.

In the case of a layer cake that requires assembly, the bakery must assemble and lift the cake to where it is to be served to ensure that it will be brought to the table in the intended condition. If the cake is small and does not require any assembly, we can take care of it. In such a case, we need the bakery to provide us information about the structure of the cake so that we can instruct guests on how to cut it.

Does the wedding buffet cater for special diets and allergies?

Yes, it does! We kindly ask you to inform Lehmonkärki sales service of any special dietary requirements or allergies at least two weeks before the wedding. Food for those with a special diet or allergies will be served from a separate buffet table.

Is it possible to book a brunch for Sunday morning?

You can order an abundant brunch of local food for Sunday morning (for a minimum of 20 persons). You can choose one of two times: from 10:00 to 11:30 and from 10:30 to noon.

How will special diets be taken into account?

We will take into account any special diets and allergies guests may have. The wedding couple must inform us of any special diets and allergies at least two weeks before the wedding.

What is included in the venue rental?

Please see the detailed description in the comprehensive wedding info package.

How will the rent be invoiced?

We will use the number of guests confirmed one week before the wedding as the basis for invoicing. We will charge you for all beverages, i.e. welcome drinks, wine and any other drinks served while serving wine, according to consumption and only for used beverage vouchers (this applies to Villa Vellamo).

The entire invoice for the party will be sent after the wedding by email. Our payment term is 14 days net, unless otherwise stated. The interest on arrears is 10.5%. Villa accommodation will be invoiced in advance. If you wish, you can pay a deposit of €500 for the venue, which will be deducted from the final invoice.

Is there more information about weddings anywhere?

Yes, there is! We have created wedding info packages for Villa Vellamo, Isohaapa and Ometta, which we will be happy to send you by email. For more detailed information about the venue, policies, decorations, catering and accommodation, see our comprehensive wedding info package.

We are interested in organising our wedding at Lehmonkärki. How should we contact you?
